Two-Factor Authentication for Small Business

One stolen password can open your email, bank and files. Why two-factor matters for a small office, what usually gets missed, and how we set it up.

Passwords leak from other websites, get guessed, or get typed into fake sign-in pages. With two-factor, a stolen password is not enough on its own.

Signs you are exposed

  • Some staff sign in to email with only a password.
  • Two-factor is on for the owner, but not for everyone.
  • The codes for a shared account go to one person’s phone.
  • Your domain, bank or website logins have no second step.

Why it matters

Email is the key to everything else, because password resets for every other account land there. Once someone is in your email, they can reset their way into the rest, and send invoices as you.

What usually gets missed

  • Shared accounts like info@ or the front desk.
  • The domain registrar and the website hosting.
  • Old staff accounts nobody closed.
  • What happens when the one phone with the codes is lost.

What we do

We turn on two-factor across email and your key accounts for the whole team, set it up so a lost phone doesn’t lock you out, and write down how it works. It is part of the Small Office Security Setup, at a published price.

Questions

Will this slow my team down?
A few seconds at sign-in, and trusted devices are asked less often. Most people stop noticing it within a week.
Are text-message codes good enough?
They are much better than a password alone. App-based sign-in is stronger, and we use it where it fits your team.

Start with the setup. If someone has left recently, start with the lockdown.

  • Ex-Employee Access Lockdown ($299)
